Golden Gate Ferry

The Golden Gate Ferry is a pleasant way to reach Marin County.  Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Embarcadero Station is two blocks from the San Francisco Ferry Building and connects to the San Francisco International Airport.  Three ferries dock in Marin County: one at Sausalito, the second in Larkspur and the third in Tiburon.  The Larkspur terminal is a short walk to the  SMART station at Larkspur Landing.  Bicycles are also accommodated on both ferries.

Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART)

The SMART train now connect directly to Larkspur Landing, just a short walk to the Golden Gate Ferry terminal.  Bicycles are welcome on the SMART train.  What to see what the SMART train is like?  Watch this video.

Bicycle Pathways

Bicycle paths connect to both Marin ferry terminals and to some SMART train stations.  We recommend the following for pleasant rides:

Larkspur Ferry Building/Larkspur Landing SMART Station: The Cal Park Hill Pathway and the Corte Madera Creek Pathway a portion of the Sonoma Marin Adventure Trail.

Rohnert Park SMART Station: The SMART Pathway south to the Copeland Creek Pathway or north to Golf Course Drive.

Santa Rosa Downtown SMART Station: The Prince Memorial Greenway, the Santa Rosa Creek Trail and the Joe Rodota/West County Trail to Sebastopol and Forestville.  The SMART Pathway also extends north to the Santa Rosa North SMART Station.

Note that construction is underway to link many of the sections of SMART pathway.  You can find their status here: https://www.sonomamarintrain.org/smart_pathway
