Fall Hawk Migration on the Sonoma Coast With Larry Broderick of West County Hawk Watch

The fall hawk migration season is upon us on the Sonoma Coast. Join Larry Broderick, Certified California Naturalist, for a live-action experience observing these swift birds in flight. Larry has 10+ years of experience leading the Jenner Hawk Watch in documenting raptor species present during the migrations. For this outing, we will drive to the top of the coastal prairie and walk 2 miles on the road along the ridge.

Level 2- Some inclines on good trails.

About the Jenner Headlands Preserve
Located north of the town of Jenner where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, and extending two-and-a-half miles along Highway 1 and inland toward Cazadero, this 5,630-acre coastal treasure has it all — rich habitat for fish and wildlife, dramatic views, extensive opportunities for recreation and a spectacular segment of the California Coastal Trail. Acquired by Sonoma Land Trust in 2009, it was transferred as planned to The Wildlands Conservancy in 2013 with free public access everyday from 8am-sunset.
